 Mary's next venture will be to write and publish a book on networking. I know there are a million books out there, all telling people what they should be doing. In everyone they say there is a book so I might as well get mine out of my head and behind a paperback cover. It won't be anything exciting I am sure but I do hope it gives people value from the words inside. Not everyone wants to sit at a computer and read the pages of a website. It is like looking at family photos, great to have them on a disc, or stick and shove them into the television or computer so friends can see them flash by in front of their face. In time nothing replaces the family album that you can pass around and discuss each photo before it has disappeared out of sight.
So for that reason, with the help of Jonathan Blane, I will write this book this year. My reason for putting this here is to make sure I do it. Jonathan is a world famous author in his own right. He has published a number of books and went global with his manual on ASAP. If I have to learn, I might as well get the tips from someone who has done and knows the path. This has been a benefit of networking: learn from other's mistakes; don't waste time making the same ones, there will be plenty of your own.

I am very proud to have received an award from my colleagues at Marlow FM. They give a number of awards to the volunteers and most are for fun. However when you are named as the Rising Star - you take that a little more seriously. I am thrilled to be involved with the team down there. I too now live the dream of being a radio presenter - not that I knew it was a dream until I did it. People you know in life put you forward for things they think you can do. In most cases they are probably right, and you won't know until you have had 'a go'. I am loving it. I love the fact I have learned how to work the desk and faders. There is still much to learn but I can download the play list, get to the news on time, play music that I like or my guest chooses, and best of all - fantastic guests. Thanks to the power of networking, I have met the world and its brother and sister. I never thought I would ever say I wanted to be a radio presenter - but by golly I do now. Thanks to Tim Ashburner and all the team at Marlow FM.

FSB – East Berkshire Branch
I have been the Chairman, Vice Chair and now committee member of East Berkshire Branch of the FSB. We hold over 60 networking events in the East Berks area with a number of them being free. Look out for the Meet the FSB events - come along and see if this group is right for your business. The legal helpline is the most beneficial if you are in business, of course there are many other benefits as well. It is good to join a recognised business group, it gives your business authenticity.
