One Year On
What a difference a year makes as they say. Classically in any business when you meet an advisor, one of the questions will be – where do you see yourself in a years time? In my wildest dreams I could not have guessed where I would end up. The Keller breakfasts have been a pleasure and privilege to run and I have so many great people to thank for their support and encouragement.

Jon Davey, LiaiseOnline and Business in Berkshire for all the newsletters and excellent website, Antz for the logo, Enigma Graphics for my new business cards, Brian Smith for the mentoring and advice and Richard Knight for his untiring support. Sharon Connelly for the styling and make up advice and my son Chris for all the IT support. Finally Dale Strickland Clark for the fab photos which can now be found on my website and of course to all those who have attended the breakfast meetings – particularly those who have been the most regular. Of course I should also say a huge THANK YOU to the Coppid Beech Hotel for all their support and the birthday cake. This all goes to show there is no such thing as a one man band business; we all need this support to survive and keep going.

When I first wrote about my early life in business and applying to the BBC for a job as a receptionist back in the good old sixties: Thank you for you interest in this company was my reply – I regret to inform you we only employ men! Alien words these days, but after one year in business and a 40 year wait, I stood shoulder to shoulder with the EX DG from the BBC, Greg Dyke, introducing him at the Ideal Business Show in Newbury. Equally I was honoured to host Rachel Elnaugh of Red Letter Days at the same event. I felt as if I had arrived at wherever ‘there’ might be.

I also was very honoured to be invited onto the council of OMEC (Overseas Malaysian Executive Council) and helped with organising their Annual Summer Ball, whilst at The Ideal Business Show I met a lady I had previously been introduced to a couple of years ago, she is an agent for after dinner speakers. When we were looking for a star act for the Summer Ball, I contacted her again and asked if she had anyone that would be interested – Peter Karrie was available and interested – who is Peter Karrie? Thank goodness for GOOGLE – THAT Peter Karrie, only THE Phantom from Phantom of the Opera – a Welsh man with an amazing voice. I am now the proud owner of 2 fabulous CD’s autographed! Yes this has been a great year – where will I be at the end of next year – Who Knows?

With the right people around and great people to find – the world is truly a wonderful place. Paper work still has to be mastered – still it couldn’t all be perfect.

Grateful thanks to Dale Strickland-Clark for the photograph
